Kudos, Thanks, Musings & Samples

KUDOS

Generosity is an interesting concept when taken out of the realm of helping the sick or needy. When an obvious or sometimes tragic "want" is rectified by a generous gift of time, money and compassion it’s easily recognized – but sometimes there are those random acts of kindness practiced by unlikely or unexpected people that are a gift of beauty for no other purpose than to delight other people. No devastating or debilitating need – but a real god-send nonetheless – like in the case of ARS Graphic  and TypoFlat.

Everyone needs graphic art from time to time – not to mention a good typeface! These two websites give truly cool and beautiful graphics and innovative typefaces for free! Not everything of course – but enough great design to inspire and serve a genuine need – for art. Hence, the photo/typeface used in the  Header image for this blog. I’ll be featuring their cool FREE art and hope it inspires all of us to contribute something of our own talents when someone needs them. In the meantime, these fellows are open for business – and may they have many customers!

THANKS

To JPL for images of glaxies and other space doodads...I intend to use more : )

MUSINGS

My inspiration for design and text comes from a  fascination with String Theory – a branch of physics that explains all phenomena as "vibration" and posits a universe comprised of at least 11 dimensions. We, in fact, do not live in a universe, but a multiverse and M Theory unites all this complexity into a single, overarching framework – a mathematically elegant theory of everything -- microcosm  to macrocosm. Most scientists now agree it fulfills Einstein's quest for The Grand Unification Theory he did not find in his lifetime.

Sadly, I have zero math skills – but I do have a poetic understanding that enables me to combine words and design forms. If the samples of my work are of interest, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your design needs. Ditto for text needs.

SAMPLES

Brochures come in all sizes and forms and can now be electronic entirely.  When JPL needed a brochure to describe what the Mission Management Office can do for the various missions, I came up with a 6 page overview as well as detailed White Papers on each offering. Shown here,  the cover and page 6.  Other samples include postcards for a clothing manufacturer, logos I've developed, and links to websites can be found on the left hand side of the blog.  There's tons more work to show and read...just ask.
